A working railway station built in the early 20th century on the site of a former convent. The entrance hall is covered with 20,000 azulejo tiles by Jorge Colaço showing the history of transport and scenes of Portuguese life, under a glass and cast-iron roof by Marques da Silva.

Trains to Guimarães leave from São Bento Station and call at Campanhã Station about five minutes later, so you can board at either. CP's Linha de Guimarães timetable, which it lists as in force since 14 December 2025, shows ten departures a day from São Bento on weekends and sixteen on weekdays. The trains that run every day leave São Bento at 07:20, 08:20, 10:20, 12:20, 14:20, 16:20, 18:25, 20:20 and 23:20.
Trains for the valley use São Bento Station or Campanhã Station in the east of the city, and the guides disagree about which one the Douro services leave from.
São Bento Station, the Clérigos Tower and Livraria Lello are on foot, as are Avenida dos Aliados and Praça da Liberdade.
