Parks, a stadium and the east side
Bonfim is in the east of the city, around Campanhã Station and the Estádio do Dragão. It holds several parks, a cemetery and a contemporary art centre.
The Estádio do Dragão, FC Porto's stadium, opened in 2003 and has a museum of about 7,000 square metres in 27 themed areas. Campanhã Station, opened in 1877, takes trains on the Norte, Minho and Douro lines. The Bonfim Church, built between 1874 and 1894, has two 42-metre bell towers.
The Parque Oriental covers about 10 hectares and opened in 2010. The São Lázaro Garden, opened in 1834, is the city's oldest public garden, with a central lake ringed by twelve magnolias. It is open 09:00 to 20:00 from April to September and 09:00 to 19:00 from October to March.
The Quinta de Bonjóia has an 18th-century house attributed to Nicolau Nasoni and terraced gardens toward the Douro. The Porto Military Museum is closed on Mondays, and the Prado do Repouso Cemetery, inaugurated in 1839, has neo-Gothic funerary art in granite.
Getting there
Campanhã Station is the city's main railway station in the east. The Parque Oriental is in the east of the city, and the Quinta de Bonjóia looks toward the Campanhã valley and the Douro.
What to see
Pick the stadium or the parks and add one museum. São Roque Park and Casa São Roque are both on Rua São Roque da Lameira.
Where to eat and drink
The São Roque Park is open 08:00 to 20:00 from April to September and 08:00 to 19:00 from October to March. The Porto Military Museum is closed on Mondays.
